Pressurized pipes
Pressure mains are essential links in the wastewater chain. Many of these pipelines were installed during the 1970s, meaning that their theoretical design lifespan has already been exceeded. However, inspecting and assessing the condition of pressure mains is not straightforward - it often requires custom approaches and is cost-intensive.
We support municipalities and water authorities in identifying the risks associated with pressure mains. We point out which failure mechanisms are relevant for a specific pipeline and determine the most suitable monitoring and inspection techniques. This approach provides system managers with the necessary insights at the lowest possible cost.
We are also actively involved in various pressure main research projects initiated by Stichting RIONED and STOWA, including the failure probability model, the practical guide for inventory and investigation of pressure mains, and the application of inspection techniques in real-world situations.
