Research into the effects of climate change
Climate change requires adjustments in urban water management. Both flooding due to heavy rainfall and water shortages caused by prolonged droughts present significant challenges. This new reality compels managers to develop robust water management systems capable of handling both excess and insufficient water.

We conduct research and provide advice on the impacts of climate change on infrastructure. For example, we are contributing to the development of STOWA's Key Factors of Water Management, a methodology to assess the functioning of water management in urban environments. Occasionally, we encounter unexpected effects, such as large blockages caused by the buildup of debris in the sewer system during extended dry periods, which is then flushed out with the first major rainfall. Another example is converting to an improved separate system VGS 2.0, since this can help an area retain as much rainwater locally as possible, addressing the impacts of drought.
